KASTO BANDSAW MACHINERY CLEANING

Maher - Sheffield, S9

Client's Challenge

Maher required a specialist machinery cleaning solution to address heavy contamination affecting their Kasto bandsaw equipment.

Over time, the bandsaw had accumulated ingrained grease, dirt and metal swarf across accessible machine components. This build-up was creating hygiene concerns, impacting maintenance efficiency, and reducing overall operational presentation within the production environment.

The client required a professional saw blade cleaner and machinery cleaning service that could be delivered safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard, without unnecessary disruption to ongoing manufacturing operations.

Assessment & Planning

APT ICC carried out a focused on-site assessment of the Kasto bandsaw to
evaluate:

• Type and thickness of grease and surface contamination
• Swarf accumulation points and high risk zones
• The most effective degreasing and agitation methods for the machinery
• Safe access points for controlled cleaning within a live manufacturing environment

To establish confidence in the cleaning outcome and agree a benchmark
finish standard, APT ICC proposed a controlled test clean on one bandsaw prior to expanding works across additional machinery.

Methodology

Accessible areas of the Kasto bandsaw were inspected, and loose debris and swarf were removed to expose contaminated surfaces.

Step 2: Targeted degreasing application
A heavy-duty industrial degreaser was applied to break down ingrained grease, oils and residues across machine surfaces, guards and housings.

Step 3: Controlled agitation and detailed cleaning
Manual agitation and detailing were carried out in high-contamination zones to lift stubborn deposits without introducing unnecessary moisture or risk to machine components.

Step 4: Contamination removal and surface wipe-down
Released grease, swarf and residues were removed from all accessible surfaces using controlled wipe-down methods.

Step 5: Final inspection and finish confirmation
A final visual inspection was completed to confirm the machinery was left clean, safe, presentable and suitable for ongoing maintenance and operation.

Site Access & Logistics

Equipment
• Professional industrial cleaning tools for detailing and swarf removal
• Manual wipe-down systems and controlled agitation equipment

Chemicals
UltraMax 2020 – heavy-duty industrial degreaser used to break down grease, grime and oily deposits on machinery surfaces

All chemicals used are manufactured in the UK by APT ICC’s in-house chemical division and selected specifically for safe use in industrial and manufacturing environments.

The Results
The initial test clean delivered an immediate and visible improvement in machinery condition.

Key outcomes included:

• Grease and swarf removed from all accessible areas
• Machine surfaces restored to a significantly higher cleanliness standard
• Improved maintainability and operational presentation of the Kasto bandsaw

Maher confirmed they were extremely satisfied with both the finish and the effectiveness of the saw blade cleaner and machinery cleaning programme.

As a direct result of this successful first-stage clean, APT ICC was commissioned to return and clean two additional Kasto bandsaws in July, with further equipment cleaning projects expected as part of the site’s ongoing maintenance programme.
