Client Details: Ebbw Vale Multi-storey Car Park, Blaenau Gwent County Council
Project: Algae, Mould, Graffiti Removal and Brick Cleaning
APT were called to investigate the poor aesthetic appearance of the multi-storey car park in Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent, which had become a hub for anti-social behaviour within the town. We were asked to provide solutions for its improvement.
It had suffered many, many years of weathering with the walls, floors and steps being covered in algae and hardened grime. The algae had caused the steps to become dangerous due to the fungi build up. Graffiti and chewing gum were also a big issue. Doors and windows needed to be cleaned. Paint where necessary. Drains needed to be cleared. Install new safety barriers.
APT organised and co-ordinated a full traffic and pedestrian management programme. We co-ordinated the erection of scaffolding. Using APT’s own graffiti remover we were able to quickly re-instate many of the walls. APT Algae Free was used to clean and remove all algae from the building. We used soda blasting to remove the chewing gum.
The building was transformed both externally and internally becoming a landmark of the town of Ebbw Vale in Blaenau Gwent.
“Thank you to all at APT, the boys worked non-stop and were highly professional and polite. The office staff could not do enough to help and put us at ease. We never expected such a great result; it’s totally transformed the car park and made a big impact on the town centre.”
