COMMERCIAL KITCHEN CLEAN & TR19
Luctonians Sports Club - Kingsland, Leominster, HR9
Client's Challenge
Luctonians Sports Club in Gloucester required urgent commercial kitchen
deep cleaning and extraction duct cleaning following a visit from the local
Environmental Health Department.
The kitchen needed to be returned to an acceptable hygienic standard,
and the extraction system required cleaning to meet compliance expectations,
reduce fire risk, and support renewal of kitchen insurance cover through TR19-aligned duct cleaning and certification.
With catering operations dependent on the facility, the works needed to
be delivered quickly, safely, and to a visibly improved “as-new” finish,
without unnecessary disruption to the venue.
Assessment & Planning
APT ICC assessed the kitchen and extraction systems against Environmental Health expectations and insurance compliance standards for TR19 kitchen duct cleaning.
Key planning considerations included:
•Identification of high-risk grease accumulation points within ductwork
• Selection of food-safe degreasers suitable for catering environments
• Correct cleaning methods for aluminium filters, stainless steel, ovens and flooring
• Full documentation to support compliance sign-off and certification
APT ICC also provided the client with cleaning products and guidance to
help maintain improved hygiene standards between scheduled deep cleans.
Methodology
Step 1: Mobilisation and hygiene control
Specialist commercial kitchen and duct cleaning operatives established controlled working zones and began deep cleaning from high-risk contamination areas outward.
Step 2: Extraction hood and duct cleaning
Cooker hoods, canopies and internal ducting were degreased and deep cleaned to reduce fire risk and support TR19 compliance for insurance and Environmental Health approval.
Step 3: Floor degreasing and anti-slip restoration
Heavy-duty degreaser was applied to anti-slip flooring to break down grease build-up, followed by controlled rinsing and restoration to leave floors hygienic and safe.
Step 4: Oven and equipment deep cleaning
Ovens and cooking equipment were treated using specialist methods to remove carbonised grease. Aluminium filters and removable components were cleaned to restore airflow and hygiene.
Step 5: Grease traps and drainage hygiene
Grease traps, waste pipes and drains were treated to remove fats and residues, improving drainage hygiene and reducing odours and blockage risk.
Step 6: Final sanitation and compliance support
All stainless steel surfaces were sanitised and left to a professional presentation standard. Works were documented and certification issued to support Environmental Health re-inspection.
