INDUSTRIAL CLEANING, MACHINERY CLEANING & PAINTING
Norma UK Ltd - Berkshire, RG19
Client's Challenge
NORMA UK required a specialist contractor to deliver an intensive programme of industrial cleaning, machinery degreasing and industrial machine painting at their Newbury manufacturing site in West Berkshire.
Multiple areas of plant equipment, including tooling, metalworking zones and heavy presses, required restoration to improve both condition and visual presentation. A key objective was to repaint machinery in updated corporate colours in preparation for visiting clients and audits.
A critical challenge was the site’s 6-day operational schedule, meaning machinery remained in frequent use with limited downtime available. Any unnecessary disruption to production would result in avoidable operational impact, requiring the works to be carefully sequenced and delivered to strict timelines.
Assessment & Planning
APT ICC carried out a detailed on-site survey of the production machinery and surrounding work areas to assess:
• Levels of oil, grease and embedded industrial contamination
• Machinery access constraints and operational priorities
• Suitable degreasing and cleaning systems for heavy presses and tooling
• Surface preparation requirements for durable repainting
• Coating systems and Pantone-specific colour instructions
• A phased delivery approach aligned to shift patterns and production demands
Planning and coordination were prioritised from the outset to ensure quality outcomes could be achieved without compromising manufacturing output or safety.
Methodology
Step 1: Machinery survey and sequencing
APT ICC reviewed all equipment included in the programme and agreed a phased delivery schedule aligned with operational priorities and client access requirements.
Step 2: Industrial degreasing and deep cleaning
Specialist APT ICC degreasers were applied to machinery surfaces including heavy presses, tooling and metalworking equipment. This stage focused on breaking down and removing oil build up, grease and embedded contamination to restore surfaces and allow safe handling.
Step 3: Surface preparation for repainting
Once contamination was removed, machinery surfaces were prepared to ensure correct coating adhesion and long-term durability. This ensured the repainting process delivered a functional and lasting improvement, not simply a cosmetic finish.
Step 4: Industrial machine painting
APT ICC’s accredited industrial painters applied the specified coating system, restoring machinery to the required corporate colour standard. The finished result delivered a professional, “as-new” appearance suitable for client visits and ongoing operational use.

Site Access & Logistics

Chemicals
• UltraMax 2020 – industrial degreaser and ultrasonic cleaner concentrate used to break down oils, grease and heavy industrial contamination
• Citrus RTU – ready-to-use citrus degreaser used for targeted removal of stubborn residues on suitable surfaces
All products were selected to support safe, effective cleaning within a live manufacturing environment.
The Results
APT ICC delivered a high-quality machinery cleaning and industrial
painting programme that exceeded client expectations.
Key outcomes included:
• Tooling and heavy presses deep cleaned and degreased to a professional standard
• Machinery repainted in new corporate colours, improving presentation and protection
• A visible uplift in the overall appearance of production areas ahead of client visits
• Works delivered successfully within strict scheduling constraints and without disruption to operations
Following the success of the project, APT ICC was awarded further planned cleaning schedules across additional machinery and production areas. We also supported NORMA UK with guidance on integrating UltraMax 2020 and Citrus RTU into Kaizen maintenance routines to support long-term equipment care and corrosion prevention.
