AFTER BUILDERS CLEANING & BRC AUDIT PREPARATION
Jones Food Company Ltd - Lydney, GL15
Client's Challenge
Jones Food Company contacted APT ICC to carry out specialist after builders cleaning to prepare a newly constructed warehouse facility ahead of a scheduled BRC audit.
Following the completion of construction works, the facility was affected by construction dust, debris, and residual contamination across floors, walls, structural steelwork, and high-level areas. As a food manufacturer operating under BRC and Food Standards Agency requirements, the client required a zero-contamination environment before audit and operational handover.
The challenge was to deliver a deep, compliance-led clean within a tight timeframe, ensuring the site was fully audit-ready.
Assessment & Planning
APT ICC met with the client on site to review the warehouse following construction completion and assess contamination levels across all areas of the facility.
The assessment focused on identifying high-risk zones from a food safety and audit perspective, including high-level steelwork, cladding, and production-critical areas. Cleaning methods were selected to ensure compatibility with food manufacturing standards, and a phased plan was developed to clean from high-level areas down to floor level, reducing the risk of recontamination.
The proposed approach and expected outcomes were agreed with the client prior to works commencing.
Methodology
APT ICC delivered the after builders and audit preparation cleaning using a structured, compliance-led methodology.
The focus was on thorough contaminant removal, hygiene control, and audit readiness.
The works were carried out as follows:
- Zoning of work areas and phased cleaning plan implementation.
- High-level cleaning of beams, cladding, and structural elements using MEWPs.
- Industrial vacuuming to remove fine construction dust from all surfaces.
- Application of food-industry-safe cleaning products to break down residual contamination.
- Degreasing and sanitisation of floors, walls, and touchpoints.
- Final inspection to confirm cleanliness and readiness for BRC audit.
This approach ensured the facility met the hygiene and compliance standards required for food production.
