Client's Challenge
BUNZL contacted APT ICC to carry out specialist warehouse and factory floor cleaning ahead of a time-critical machinery and equipment relocation.
The newly acquired facility contained floor areas affected by loose debris, oil spills, ingrained dirt, and heavy tyre marking. These conditions made the floors unsuitable for the safe movement and installation of machinery. With strict relocation deadlines in place, the client required a fast, effective solution that would deliver clean, safe floors without delaying the programme.
Assessment & Planning
APT ICC met with the client on site to review the warehouse and factory floor areas and assess overall condition, surface type, and levels of contamination.
The assessment focused on understanding the extent of oil contamination, tyre marking, and ingrained dirt, and how these factors would affect the safe movement and installation of machinery. Based on this, the most suitable cleaning approach was identified to ensure the floors could be returned to a clean, safe condition within the required timeframe.
The proposed method and expected outcome were then agreed with the client, allowing the works to be planned and delivered in line with the relocation programme.
Methodology
APT ICC delivered the works using a high-efficiency mechanical floor cleaning process designed for industrial environments.
The approach focused on rapid contaminant removal while achieving a consistent, safe finish suitable for machinery movement and installation. The works were carried out as follows:
1. Initial sweeping and removal of loose debris.
2. Application of specialist industrial cleaning and degreasing solutions to oil-affected areas.
3. Mechanical scrubbing using industrial scrubber driers to remove ingrained dirt and tyre marks.
4. Controlled rinsing and recovery of contaminants.
5. Final inspection to confirm the floor was clean, safe, and ready for machinery relocation.
