Client's Challenge
GTS Flexible Materials contacted APT ICC to carry out specialist internal warehouse cleaning, focusing on high level areas where dust and debris had accumulated over time.
Contamination was present on lighting units, overhead pipework, cabling, steelwork, and ducting. These areas posed hygiene concerns and potential safety risks, including the risk of debris falling into active production and operational zones below.
The client required a specialist contractor capable of delivering thorough internal and high-level cleaning while the warehouse remained operational.
Assessment & Planning
APT ICC met with the client on site to review the internal warehouse environment and assess the extent and location of high-level contamination.
The assessment focused on identifying priority areas, access requirements, and the most appropriate cleaning methods for elevated internal surfaces. Consideration was given to safe working at height, the use of MEWPs, and the deployment of extendable equipment to allow effective cleaning while maintaining safe separation from ongoing operations.
The proposed approach and expected outcomes were agreed with the client prior to works commencing.
Methodology
APT ICC delivered the internal warehouse and high-level cleaning works using a structured, safety-led approach.
Specialist access equipment and extendable tools were used to reach elevated areas safely, allowing effective removal of dust and contamination without disrupting operations below.
The works were carried out as follows:
- Identification and zoning of internal high-level cleaning areas.
- Access to elevated areas using MEWPs where required.
- Use of extendable equipment for spraying, wiping, degreasing, and vacuuming.
- Careful cleaning of lighting units, pipework, cabling, ducting, and overhead structures.
- Controlled containment and
removal of dust and debris to prevent recontamination. - Ongoing inspection to confirm cleanliness and safety improvements.
This method ensured thorough cleaning while maintaining a safe working environment.
