FOOD & BEVERAGE INDUSTRY MACHINERY & FLOOR CLEANING
Stainless Technologies Group - Dudley, West Midlands, DY1
Client's Challenge
Stainless Technologies Group required a specialist industrial cleaning contractor to deep clean and degrease key production machinery and surrounding floor areas within their facility.
As a supplier to the food and beverage sector, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping across production areas is critical for operational efficiency, equipment usability, and professional presentation.
The client identified heavy build-up of grease, dirt, and swarf contamination around several key machines, including:
• Two manual centre lathes
• Two manual knee mills
• One Kaltenbach saw
The machinery required a thorough deep clean so it could be safely re commissioned and maintained more effectively moving forward.
Assessment & Planning
Prior to mobilisation, APT ICC reviewed the condition of the machinery and surrounding floor areas to identify:
• Key grease concentration points and swarf accumulation zones
• Floor contamination levels adjacent to production equipment
• The safest and most effective cleaning method for each machine type
A dedicated three-person specialist cleaning team was assigned to the
project, ensuring the correct resources were in place to complete the works within the agreed two-day programme.
Methodology
APT ICC delivered the project using a structured, controlled industrial cleaning methodology:
1. Initial scrape-down and debris removal
Loose contamination and swarf were removed using hand scrapers and brushes to expose contaminated surfaces beneath.
2. Degreasing and emulsification
Targeted degreasing was carried out to break down heavy grease and oil residues on machinery surfaces, bases, and floor edges.
3. Detail agitation and deep cleaning
Manual agitation using hand and floor brushes lifted residues from textured and uneven surfaces.
5. Steam-assisted cleaning for confined areas
Handheld steam cleaning units were used where required to loosen heavy deposits in intricate or restricted areas.
6. Floor cleaning and finishing
Surrounding floor areas were degreased and cleaned to remove slip hazards and improve overall housekeeping standards.
A final inspection was completed with the client prior to handover.
