Client's Challenge
Elan Valley Hotel required a full commercial kitchen deep clean alongside a formal TR19 inspection and certification to ensure compliance with food hygiene and fire safety requirements.
As a live hotel kitchen, grease build-up within cooking areas and extraction ducting needed to be removed, measured, and formally documented in line with TR19 guidance. The client required a specialist contractor capable of delivering both the physical cleaning works and the associated inspection, reporting, and certification.
Assessment & Planning
APT ICC was appointed to deliver specialist commercial kitchen cleaning and TR19 compliance works, including:
• Deep cleaning of kitchen surfaces and food preparation areas
• Detailed internal cleaning of kitchen ducting and extract systems
• Measurement and documentation of grease contamination levels
• Removal of grease, residue, and food-based contaminants
• Final sanitisation of all treated areas
• TR19 inspection, reporting, and certification upon completion
All works were completed in accordance with food hygiene, fire safety, and industry compliance standards.
Methodology
The kitchen deep cleaning and TR19 compliance works were delivered using
a structured, auditable process:
1. Establishment of controlled work zones and protection of kitchen equipment.
2. Pre-clean grease thickness measurement and documentation.
3. Application of specialist degreasers selected based on contamination levels.
4. Manual and mechanical cleaning using brushes, scrapers, cloths, and washers.
5. Thorough rinsing of all treated surfaces.
6. Final sanitisation using Ultraclean MB to achieve a hygienic finish.
7. Post-clean inspection, re-measurement, and photographic evidence capture.
8. Completion of TR19 report and certification.
This process ensured full compliance while maintaining hygiene standards within a live hospitality environment.
