COMMERCIAL KITCHEN CLEANING & TR19 DUCT CLEANING
The Cantreff Inn - Abergavenny, NP7
Client's Challenge
The initial test clean delivered an immediate and visible improvement in
machinery condition.
Key outcomes included:
• Grease and swarf removed from all accessible areas
• Machine surfaces restored to a significantly higher cleanliness standard
• Improved maintainability and operational presentation of the Kasto bandsaw
Maher confirmed they were extremely satisfied with both the finish and the effectiveness of the saw blade cleaner and machinery cleaning programme.
As a direct result of this successful first-stage clean, APT ICC was commissioned to return and clean two additional Kasto bandsaws in July, with further equipment cleaning projects expected as part of the site’s ongoing maintenance programme.
Assessment & Planning
APT ICC met with the client on site to review the kitchen extract system and assess ductwork condition, accessibility, and levels of grease contamination.
During this visit, the ducting layout was fully mapped to support TR19 reporting requirements. Grease build-up levels were assessed, access points identified, and system configuration recorded. The findings were discussed with the client, and the most appropriate cleaning approach was agreed in advance, along with the expected outcomes and reporting requirements.
This planning stage ensured both the cleaning works and the resulting TR19 report accurately reflected the system condition.
Methodology
APT ICC delivered the works using a structured, compliance-led TR19 duct cleaning and commercial kitchen cleaning methodology.
The approach focused on safe access, effective grease removal, and full documentation for certification purposes. The works were carried out as follows:
1. Inspection of kitchen extract canopies, ductwork, and ventilation components.
2. Controlled access to duct sections and branch ducting in line with TR19 guidance.
3. Application of food-safe degreasers to break down grease contamination.
4. Manual and mechanical agitation to remove accumulated grease and deposits.
5. Thorough internal cleaning and wipe-down of duct surfaces.
6. Final inspection to confirm cleanliness and airflow improvement.
7. Compilation of a full TR19 report, including duct layout, cleaning records, and photographic evidence.
This process ensured both physical cleaning and documented compliance were achieved.
