Client Details: Abergavenny Market Hall, Monmouth County Council
Project: High Level Cleaning Monmouthshire South Wales
Abergavenny Market Hall is in the County of Monmouthshire was chosen to host the National Welsh Eisteddfod 2016. This required urgent high level cleaning works to bring the market hall to standard for the event.
The Project High Level Commercial Cleaning
There was over 8000sq/m of stone wall to clean. The project required high-level ceiling cleaning, glass cleaning, high-level gutter cleaning, high-level window cleaning, steel pilasters’ cleaning and intricate steel work. Further commercial cleaning and commercial painting was required to the lower ground floor areas. Over 1000m of wood ceiling panels needed specialist cleaning to the high-level areas. The stalls needed to be covered, secured, and sealed.
With just 3 days’ notice, APT-ICC were called in to provide high level cleaning services to assess, organise and complete the project. The site was congested, and access was limited due to building work ongoing at the same time.
APT met with the client’s building managers and safety officers to discuss the remit and carry out a full survey of the property and site. A cleaning programme to include all high levels was written, along with a health and safety plan.
There were several factors and obstacles to overcome:
• The 3-day requirement to complete the project.
• The internal shape and height of the building, the floor had limited weight loading, making the high-level clean access equipment more complex.
• Small entranceways caused issues for high-level cleaning equipment, access lifts and commercial painting.
Therefore, we were required to use specialised lift access to ensure the safe integrity of the floor areas. APT’s specialist high cleaning team worked continuous 12-hour shifts, with maximum staff on site at all times.
The building was transformed from an oppressive, gloomy condition to a bright, welcoming space. It was extremely well received by the local authority, market stall holders and delegates.
Due to the specialist commercial deep cleaning of the ceiling panels and steel structures, the paintwork was exposed thus identifying that it was in good condition and therefore the entire planned painting with possible costs of tens of thousands was no longer necessary, the client was very happy to have saved a significant amount of money on painting.
