Project: Dry Ice Blasting and Cleaning Bristol
Plus Industrial Deep Cleaning and Machine Cleaning
Client Details: Graphic Packaging International, Bristol, England, UK
APT-ICC were invited to survey and provide a programme of specialist deep cleaning and dry ice blasting at their Bristol printing plant. An audit had been conducted which brought up several improvement areas, as well as identifying build up in difficult access areas. They also wanted to enhance their continuous improvement process.
The Project for Dry Ice Cleaning and Blasting in Bristol
Our technician carried out a full survey and provided written proposals for evaluation by the client in Bristol, which included dry ice blasting and cleaning. We discussed other various cleaning options and methods with the managers and production teams as it was essential to bring the project of dry ice cleaning in under a tight programme during a brief shutdown of production to the Bristol factory.
The print presses were normally in constant use. The schedule for dry ice blasting and cleaning had to be arranged during a short, coordinated shut down and shift period to avoid any disruption to operations.
The client had previously tried ice blasting with another company which had been costly and unsuccessful. We needed to overcome the fears of the client; we explained in detail APT’s process and methodology, we introduced the managers to the dry ice blasting technicians and arranged an onsite trial. The managers were more than happy with the outcome and approved the project for an immediate start.
APT’s Solution – Dry Ice Blasting and Cleaning
A full survey was provided with proposals for evaluation by the client. We discussed the various cleaning options and methods with the managers and production teams to bring the project in under a tight programme during a brief shutdown of production.
We brought in our specialist cryogenic dry ice blasting team to clean down and remove all the contaminated print rollers and gearing inside the large print presses. We used APT’s UltraMax (Powermax) 2020, a specialised degreaser to clean the external presses, this would quickly break down and emulsify the all the surface grease, oils and other surface contaminants.
We then completed a thorough deep cleaning beneath the presses to remove all unwanted debris and unwanted paper fibres. We needed to remove any build up that could pose a risk.
The UltraMax (Powermax) 2020 degreaser was also used for the industrial floor cleaning through the scrubber dryer.
APT carried out the programme of works to meet and exceed client expectations thus APT have been awarded an ongoing planned programme of works to ensure the progression and upgrading to the further areas within the printing hall facility, helping the client deliver on the progression of their continuous improvement programmes.
“APT-ICC carried out a very demanding programme of industrial cleaning and ice blasting which delivered fantastic results further demonstrating APT’s competence to deliver on time projects. We will continue to use their services for our ongoing operations.”
